Articles of Association
1. Purpose of the Competition
The International Dulcimer Art Association (IDAA) was established in Hong Kong , China in 2024. Its members are professional dulcimer players and educators from all over the world . This dulcimer competition is specially held to promote Chinese traditional music culture, promote the popularization and development of dulcimer art in Hong Kong, provide a platform for dulcimer enthusiasts to display their talents, discover and cultivate outstanding dulcimer performance talents , and promote the exchange and innovation of world dulcimer art.

3. Competition time and location
1. Application deadline : March 9, 2025 ( Only online applications accepted )
2. Competition mode : physical competition
3. Competition venue: The Church of Christ in China Congregational Church ( 119 Leighton Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong )
4. Competition date : March 29 , 2025 Morning
The registration link will expire at 23:59 on March 9. If you wish to register after the deadline, an additional $200 administration fee will be charged. For details, please email info@interdulcimer.com. No registration will be accepted after March 16.
IV. Eligibility:
1. All yangqin students and professional players are welcome to register.
(including full-time or half-day students in primary and secondary schools, kindergartens, university and college students, and working professionals)
2. The age limit for participants in the Young Performers, Elementary, Intermediate, Advanced and Advanced groups is 30 years old or younger.
( Calculation ends on the day of the competition ) .
3. Participants in the professional group must be current students or graduates of professional colleges , with no age limit.
4. The minimum number of members in an ensemble is two , regardless of age.
5. Participants may enter more than one event.
V. Competition repertoire requirements
Young Performers Group : Choose a yangqin solo piece of your choice , with the performance time not exceeding 3 minutes.
Elementary Group : Choose a 1-2 level yangqin solo piece * , with a performance time of no more than 3 minutes.
Intermediate Group : Choose a solo piece of yangqin from level 3 to 5 * , with a performance time of no more than 5 minutes.
Advanced Group : Choose a solo piece of yangqin from level 6 to 8 * , duration no more than 6 minutes.
Advanced Group : Choose a 9-10 grade yangqin solo piece * , duration no more than 7 minutes.
Professional Group : Choose a solo piece of yangqin * , duration no more than 7 minutes.
Ensemble : Choose a yangqin ensemble piece of your choice , the performance time should not exceed 5 minutes
* The repertoire should be selected according to the following teaching materials ( except for the Young Performers , Professionals and Ensemble groups ) . The level of the selected music should be based on the classification of the selected teaching materials .

VI. Scoring Criteria
- Technical skills ( 40 points): accuracy of performance, timbre control, application of techniques, etc.
- Musical performance ( 40 points): musical emotional expression, artistic appeal, style control, etc.
- Stage performance ( 20 points): manners, stage presence, etc.
VII. Awards
- Each category has gold, silver, bronze and excellence awards , and all participants will receive a certificate.
-Except for the Young Performers Group , each group will have a champion, a first runner-up and a second runner-up, each of whom will be awarded a trophy .
- The champion will receive a Yangqin scholarship and perform at the first Hong Kong International Yangqin Concert and Awards Ceremony.
-Gold medal winners can have priority in registering for future international yangqin exchange activities.
- The instructor of the gold medalist will receive the " Excellent Instruction Award " .
